2. SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT

2.1 SCM organization

Software Configuration Management tasks are the responsibility of the Software Configuration Manager, the Software Engineering Manager, the Software Team Leads, and the individual developers. The Software Configuration Manager reports to the Software Engineering Manager contributes to the company Change Control Board (CCB), and meets with Software Team Leads as necessary for change issues.

2.2 SCM Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Software Configuration Manager are as follows:

1. Administrate the Software Configuration Management tool
2. Ensure that developers are trained in the use of the Software Configuration Management tool
3. Establish and maintain the Software Configuration Management Plan and the Software Configuration Management Procedures documentation.
4. Comply with the responsibilities listed in Software Configuration Management Procedures.
5. Attend Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.

Responsibilities of the Software Team Leads and Software Engineering Manager:

1. Review the Software Configuration Management Plan and Software Configuration Management Procedures documentation
2. Comply with Responsibilities listed in Software Configuration Management Procedures

The responsibilities of the Software Developers are:

1. Comply with the responsibilities listed in Software Configuration Management Procedures

2.3 Relationship of CM to the software process life cycle

2.3.1 Interfaces to other organizations on the project

Other organizations of vital importance to successful SCM are Document Control and The Problem Report System.

SCM interfaces with Document Control through weekly Change Control Board meetings.

SCM interfaces with the Problem Report System by holding a gatekeeper position in the resolution of software PRs
